Ranked as one of the most innovative companies in the world, KONE is a global leader in elevator and escalator business. KONE Technology & Innovation is a global organization of technology, design and IT experts who research and create new technologies and solutions for innovative People Flow®.
Elevator user interfaces include several high-mix low-volume components but tooling is often required for producing the parts. Latest development of additive manufacturing methods provides several interesting opportunities in this field from tool-free manufacturing to optimized structures that cannot be realized in any other means than by additive manufacturing.
We are looking for
We are now looking for a Student for a Diploma Work to study available and soon-to-come technologies and experiment via prototypes possibilities to use additive manufacturing in production for elevator button mechanical assembly.
The work will include theoretical part with focus on principles of topology optimization enabled by additive manufacturing and hand-on case study by developing a special elevator button optimized for additive manufacturing.
As a result of the study should be
a) detailed additive manufacturing optimized assembly and part structure including mechanism optimization and rough level topology optimization
b) prototypes and samples
c) analysis on materials suitability to elevator environment
d) delivery chain studies including lead time and full cost analysis
The Diploma work is paid as a scholarship.
